Celebrating with a bang.

This was a cake I created for a friend of mines' daughter's thirteenth birthday. She specified that it had to be something pink, with flowers and plenty of decoration. I don't think this cake was quite what she expected, but upon delivery, she was amazed at the creativity and imagination.
This is a two tiered cake (for this I would charge £8), each tier is a different colour of sponge on the inside. It is decorated in royal and fondant icing with decorations made from fondant icing and applied to the cake using edible cake glue. I also added little balls of icing around the bottom and center of the cake to give it some added colour to break up from the huge amount of pink on this cake. In between each flour is a line of green icing, shaped to look like the stems of the flowers. The candles are sparkling candles that flicker and the big light is a cake firework. This was the part my customers' daughter was most impressed with and boasted to her friends about it for a rather long time afterwards.
Although this photo doesn't do the cake justice, I do have to admit that it was beautiful upon delivery, but five minutes after the candles had been blown out it had been demolished! Always a good sight for my eyes to see.
Feel free to leave me any comments regarding this cake or any of my others.
